Historic Maine Funeral Home Joins Family First

Family First Funeral Homes, a privately held firm with locations throughout Maine, is pleased to announce that it has acquired Dan and Scott’s Adams Cremation and Funeral Service.  The acquisition adds locations in Skowhegan and Farmington.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dan and Scott’s Adams to Family First,” stated Jeff Forsythe, President of Family First. “The historic funeral home’s service to their community is exemplary, and we look forward to collaborating with their team of professionals.”

“Family First has an outstanding reputation throughout Maine,” said Dan Adams, President of Dan and Scott’s Adams. “The leadership they have shown in our field will help us immensely as we continually strive to provide best-in-class care and service to our families. Our team is now better positioned to fulfill our mission of making every service as meaningful as the life lived.” Through this partnership, Family First will expand operational capabilities and resources to support teams and deliver exceptional service.

Dan and Scott’s Adams was founded in 1792, before Maine was even established as a state. Over the past 230 years, seven generations of the Adams family have committed themselves to serve their community. The funeral home serves 500 families annually.

“It was important to find a partner we could trust to uphold our legacy,” continued Adams. “During due diligence, Family First and their team proved themselves to be honest, accessible, and informative. We could not have partnered with someone if there was a single doubt in our minds. We are confident Family First is our ideal partner.”

“Family First is focused on bringing high-quality care to communities throughout the northeast,” added Forsythe, “and our commitment to investing in and supporting funeral directors and their staff is central to this goal.” The acquisition marks the 9th and 10th locations for Family First, who is acquiring throughout New England.
