NewBridge Group Assists Rollings Funeral Service in the Acquisition of Mahar Funeral Home

The transaction is one of a number of funeral homes that NewBridge Group is actively assisting in their succession plan.

BENNINGTON, VERMONT – E. P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home has served the town of Bennington, Vermont for the past seventy years. A third-generation business, the funeral home was founded by Edward and Olga Mahar in 1935, with son Alex and grandson John joining over the years.

Mahar is known as a “pinnacle of service” in their business community, so when the opportunity to sell arose, it was important that their reputation and dedication to the families of Bennington did not diminish in any way. NewBridge Group, succession planners and merger and acquisition consultants, had fostered a relationship with the business over several years, providing Mahar with information regarding their options to sell and introducing a best-fit buyer.

“We understand that the decision to sell is likely one of the biggest choices a business owner can make,” explains Tony Kumming, NewBridge President. “You have poured your heart and soul into this business – your family and community has depended on you for years. We are ready to talk when you are – the choice to sell is always on your terms.”

Based on familiarity with local buyers, NewBridge was able to identify the best owner that had the financial capacity and interest in growing in the area, but more importantly, Mahar believed was the right fit. “We understood Mahar and Sons’ need for the new owner to respect their current staff, legacy, and reputation within the local community,” says Kumming.

The Mahar Funeral Home transaction is one of a number of funeral homes that NewBridge Group is actively assisting in their succession plan.  With more deals under LOI than any time in its 20-year history, NewBridge is poised to help a record number of funeral home owners find the right buyer for their business.
